Opaline kitchen, Berlin, Germany

A Dialogue Between Architecture and Material

Designed by Studio BvdL and presented by Galerie Terramica, this project in Berlin celebrates the harmony between architectural precision and artisanal mastery.
At the heart of the space, the Opaline enamelled lava countertop by Pyrolave captures natural light and fills the room with a soft, mineral luminosity.

The Lightness of Opaline

The Opaline enamel, delicately tinted with pale blue, transforms natural lava into a bright, ethereal surface.
Its subtle sheen enhances the stone’s depth and creates a harmonious dialogue between light, material, and space.
Combined with walnut wood and brushed stainless steel, the design embodies a contemporary yet timeless aesthetic, both minimal and refined.

Pyrolave Craftsmanship: From Volvic to Castelsarrasin

The enamelled lava pieces for this project were crafted in the Pyrolave workshops in Castelsarrasin, using natural lava sourced from the Volvic region in France.
Each element is poured, hand-enamelled, and fired at extremely high temperatures, revealing the signature crackled texture and mineral brilliance that define Pyrolave’s work.
A unique process that unites French craftsmanship, fire mastery, and modern design.

A Vision of Contemporary Refinement

Through the creative vision of Studio BvdL and the curatorial approach of Galerie Terramica, this kitchen embodies a poetic vision of everyday living, where material becomes atmosphere.
The Opaline color brings calm, clarity, and light, turning the kitchen into a space of balance and inspiration.
