An Elegant Transformation by the Ocean
A Renovation Inspired by the Sea and French Know-How
Café de Paris, an iconic institution in Biarritz, has recently undergone a stunning transformation under the artistic direction of Maison Sarah Lavoine. This metamorphosis combines elegance, modernity, and a seaside spirit, offering visitors a unique experience between land and sea.
A Design Inspired by the Ocean
Overlooking the Grande Plage on one side and the Basta rock on the other, Café de Paris enjoys an exceptional location. The renovation, orchestrated by Sarah Poniatowski, drew inspiration from this marine environment to create a chic yet relaxed atmosphere. The various spaces—lobby, restaurant, bar, and rooms—have been reimagined in a cohesive style that plays with material and color combinations. Shades of “seaside blue” adorn the seating, while the ceiling features the iconic “Bleu Sarah,” creating a soothing and bright ambiance.
Noble and Sustainable Materials
One of the highlights of this renovation is the use of noble and sustainable materials, particularly Pyrolave enamelled lava stone. This choice, initiated by Lorena Rivera, project manager at Maison Sarah Lavoine in Bordeaux, adds a touch of originality and refinement to the restaurant’s tables and counter. The enamelled lava from Volvic, custom-made in southwestern France, captivates with its intense hues and high performance. Resistant to heat, frost, scratches, and aggressive products, it is perfectly suited for intensive use in a hotel establishment.
An Innovative Solution for Tables
To address the common issue of tables clashing in bars and restaurants, an ingenious solution has been developed. In collaboration with the agency Rougier & Fils, Pyrolave designed a natural oak under-plateau that slightly overhangs and has the same thickness as the lava tops. This innovation combines aesthetics and functionality while highlighting the nobility of materials and the craftsmanship of the companies involved in the project. The concept has also been applied to the counter and reception tabletops, creating a coherent and identifiable visual signature.
A Design Thought for All Generations
Café de Paris aims to be an intergenerational space where everyone can find their happiness. The tables are offered in various formats, blending Pyrolave Antique White colors with a custom-developed green. This color palette, combined with different shades of blue, creates both a dynamic and soothing atmosphere.
Rooms with Ocean Views
The renovation extended to the establishment’s rooms, where Pyrolave also left its mark. Vanity tops, bedside tables, and desks have been covered with enamelled lava, providing guests with a luxurious experience while enjoying breathtaking views of the ocean.
A Must-Visit Address on the Basque Coast
Thanks to this successful renovation, Café de Paris stands out more than ever as a must-visit address in Biarritz. Combining the charm of its exceptional location with contemporary design and noble materials, this establishment offers a unique experience to its visitors. Whether you are a local or a tourist seeking a memorable getaway, Café de Paris is ready to welcome you with warmth and conviviality.
