Nestled in the heart of Freiburg<\/strong>, in Germany\u2019s iconic Black Forest region<\/strong>\u2014renowned for having the highest concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants per square meter in Europe\u2014the Jacobi restaurant<\/strong> stands out with its understated refinement and its chef, Christoph Kaiser<\/strong>, awarded one Michelin star.<\/p> To elevate this exceptional venue, Boucherie Vollmert, Alexandre Greis (Pyrolave Germany) and Christoph Kaiser collaborated<\/strong> on the custom implementation of enameled lava tables for the restaurant.<\/p><\/p>\n\n At Jacobi, the table is more than functional\u2014it\u2019s the stage where the chef’s creations come to life. For this project, each table was handmade from volcanic stone<\/strong>, extracted from the Auvergne region in France and enameled with care in our Castelsarrasin workshop.<\/p> The result? A mineral, tactile and elegant surface<\/strong>, resilient enough for intensive daily use yet delicate in its visual and emotional presence.<\/p><\/p>\n\n The lava, sourced from the volcanoes of Auvergne, brings with it a living texture\u2014subtly crazed and deeply expressive\u2014a true artisan signature that reflects the tension between raw nature and the human hand.<\/p>\n\n The choice of materials in a fine-dining space must rise to the level of the experience. At Jacobi, the Pyrolave tables act as a silent partner to the chef\u2019s vision\u2014framing each plate with poise and texture<\/strong>, blending seamlessly into a space where design, taste and detail converge.<\/p>\n\n In a part of Europe where gastronomic excellence is a way of life<\/strong>, the presence of Pyrolave enameled lava adds a new layer of sophistication. It\u2019s a dialogue between French craftsmanship and German precision<\/strong>, between fire-forged stone and forest-rooted traditions.<\/p>\n\n This project was also a story of encounter and vision\u2014between our Pyrolave representative in Germany, Alexandre Greis, and chef Christoph Kaiser<\/strong>. Two crafts, two worlds, united by shared values: precision, passion, and a commitment to excellence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n For Jacobi, Pyrolave developed a custom color, known internally as GC3<\/strong>. This deep, smoky grey<\/strong> adds a quiet strength to the space, subtly reflecting light while allowing the chef\u2019s dishes to take center stage.
